One of their must-try dishes is the Chicken Murphy: pasta prepared with sautéed chicken breast, red peppers, mushrooms, onions, and jalapeños, all in a creamy white sauce with a touch of marinara. It’s one of their signature items. But there’s so much more to explore; their menu is full of Italian classics that every member of the family will enjoy.

Their story: Crafted by Chef Besfort “Lil’ Benny.”

Italian Garden’s story began in Bonham, Texas, where Chef Besfort “Lil’ Benny” developed his skills in both cooking and menu creation. He later opened the McKinney location alongside “Big Benny,” their mother, and their wives. Since then, they’ve continued serving the community with fresh recipes inspired by the chef’s Albanian grandmother, bringing a unique and heartfelt touch to every dish on the menu.

That’s what makes Italian Garden so special: a combination of authentic Italian and Albanian recipes with a signature Texas twist. Everything is made from scratch daily, starting at 10 a.m., using fresh ingredients, with care and a true love for the community.

Their menu has a little bit of everything: delicious starters, pizza, pasta, sandwiches, and more.

We got the chance to try their house soup, which rotates throughout the week. We also had their crispy fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, and complimentary garlic bread; every appetizer was delicious and the perfect way to start the main meal.

We ordered a small classic Margherita pizza… which, by the way, wasn’t small at all. The dough and sauce really stood out for us because of their lightness and flavor. We also enjoyed the carbonara and the stromboli, but our favorite had to be the pasta sampler: a combination of lasagna and other classic pasta dishes.

To finish the night, we had an Italian classic: tiramisu. It wasn’t too sweet and was the perfect way to end on a great note.

They offer plenty of options for the whole family, making Italian Garden the perfect spot for a family dinner or a gathering with friends over wine.

And speaking of drinks, they have a BYOB policy, where you can bring your own drinks to enjoy with your meal. It’s the cherry on top that makes this one of the coziest, most family-friendly spots we’ve visited in McKinney.
