Does anyone else get food cravings at 11 PM—or even 2 AM? We know we do. And while fast food can be tempting when everything else is closed, sometimes you just want something a little more exciting (and a lot more satisfying). That’s where we come in.
At DFW Checklist, we’ve rounded up some of the best late-night eats in the metroplex—spots that serve real food, have real flavor, and keep their kitchens open long after the sun goes down.
Bad Chicken
If you haven’t heard of Bad Chicken, where have you been? This Dallas favorite serves up some of the most crave-worthy chicken around—whether you’re in the mood for wings, sandwiches, wraps, or even a chicken Caesar wrap.
They’re best known for two things: their smoky, flavorful wings and their chicken bowls. The bowls start with your choice of chicken—buffalo, honey bang bomb, or plain—and then you pick a base of curly fries or mac & cheese. Add in your spice level, and you’ve got the ultimate customizable late-night comfort food.
Oh, and don’t skip the margaritas. They’re some of the best in the city, making this a perfect spot for a night out that runs a little (or a lot) past dinner.
📍 Hours: 11 AM – 12 AM (Sunday–Thursday), 11 AM – 1 AM (Friday–Saturday)
Yama Izakaya & Sushi
Now here’s a hidden gem: Yama Izakaya & Sushi. This spot is known for its fresh sushi, hearty ramen, and cozy late-night vibe. Whether you’re craving udon noodles or rolls that hit the spot, this place has you covered.
The best part? Their late-night happy hour. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM – 1:30 AM, you can grab sushi for $1, $1.50, and $1.95 a piece. That’s not a typo—it’s one of the best deals in town.
While the Dallas location gets all the love for its late hours and happy hour, Yama also has locations in Carrollton, Preston Road, and Legacy. The menus and hours vary, but the food is always worth it.
📍 Hours (Dallas): Monday–Saturday 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM, Sunday 5:30 PM – 10:30 PM
Dan Sung Sa
We couldn’t make this list without including Dan Sung Sa—one of the most talked-about late-night restaurants in Dallas. Walking inside feels like stepping straight into a bustling Korean street market, complete with neon signs and a vibrant, casual vibe.
The menu is packed with authentic Korean street food favorites, with dishes ranging from $7.99–$19.99. Think skewers, spicy stews, savory pancakes, and plenty of shareable plates. Add in affordable drinks starting at just $7, and you’ve got yourself the ultimate spot for a night out with friends.
Whether you’re in the mood for a full meal or just a few bites to go with drinks, Dan Sung Sa delivers the kind of energy and flavor that keeps you coming back.
📍 Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
Friday–Saturday: 5:30 PM – 4:00 AM
Sunday: 5:30 PM – 2:30 AM
Mad Dogs
Sometimes, late at night, all you really need is a hot dog. Think about it—after a night out with friends, you missed dinner, or you’ve just got a bad case of the midnight munchies. A hot dog will fix that, especially one from Mad Dogs. They’ve got some of the best loaded dogs in the DFW area and an easygoing vibe that’s perfect for a casual bite.
The menu has plenty to choose from, but if you’re into gourmet hot dogs, you’ve got five to pick from! We recommend the Brisket Dog—made with 100% halal beef, TruBoy smoked chopped beef brisket, crispy fried onions, pickled red onions, and their homemade BBQ sauce. One word to describe it: YUM.
If you’re not feeling a hot dog, go for their smash burgers—available in single, double, or triple. And don’t skip the sides: from loaded fries to elote in a cup, everything hits the spot.
📍 Hours: 11 AM – 2 AM (Every day)
📍 Locations: Plano & Farmers Branch
Velvet Taco
You know we couldn’t finish this list without including a spot that’s taken not only DFW but much of the South by storm: Velvet Taco. Known for their creative tacos—from chicken to veggie to seafood—this place is a late-night favorite for a reason. And yes, their famous red velvet cake is just as good as everyone says.
Their menu features tacos, bowls, wraps, sides, and desserts. If you’re trying something new, go for the Korean Fried Rice Taco—slow-roasted pulled pork, gochujang egg fried rice, red chile aioli, pickled red onion, jalapeños, grilled pineapple, and cilantro on a flour tortilla. If that doesn’t make your mouth water, their Brisket Nachos will: slow-roasted Angus brisket, queso blanco, blue corn chips, roasted corn pico, chimichurri, queso fresco, and cilantro.
If you’re just in the mood for a snack, grab their Elote & Chips or the crowd-favorite Chips and Queso. And for dessert? Their soft, moist Red Velvet Cake is the perfect late-night sweet fix.
📍 Hours: 11 AM – 11 PM (Sunday–Thursday) | 11 AM – 12 AM (Friday–Saturday)
📍 Locations: Across DFW—McKinney, Dallas, and Fort Worth
Where are you going?
Of course, these are just a few of the many late-night gems scattered across DFW. But we wanted to spotlight spots that serve real food (not just greasy drive-thru bags) and won’t completely wreck your wallet.
So next time those 1 AM cravings hit, skip the fast food line and try one of these local favorites instead. Which of these late-night spots is your go-to—or better yet, which one are you planning to check out first? Let us know!
